”I hate it when people call me racist cause I don’t like TV Series Tara. I only don’t like her because she is so judgemental. Friends shouldn’t be like that!”

So you don’t like Sookie either? Or Lafayette? Or Sam? Or Arlene?
So basically, this person must only like Terry and Hoyt (season 1).

There’s judgmental and there’s calling people on their bull shit. Especially when they damn well ought to know better than to pull that kinda bull shit.

I really hate it when people say they don’t like someone because they’re ‘judgmental’. You know what WE’RE ALL FUCKING JUDGMENTAL. Erry damn one of us.
That mason jar convo. that’s going on with people saying it’s adorkable and twee and all that good stuff? Judgment.
When you see someone walking down the street wearing an ensemble you find unattractive and you think ‘ugh, why the fuck?’ Judgmental.
Every time you contradict someone’s opinion, idea, thought, feeling, look, writing, music, food…judgment.
It’s a fact of life and isn’t necessarily a good/bad thing. It’s an inherent human trait and if you don’t like judgmental people, then you probably don’t like yourself or any other damn person walking this earth.
/soapbox rant.

TV Tara troubles me. I loved her in the first season, but have liked her less in subsequent ones. She’s definitely a huge improvement over the racist Tara of the books. And I don’t like how she’s become Ball’s punching bag.
Of course, I stopped watching like 3 eps into last season, so I don’t know what I think of her now.

just a few things: reverse racism doesn’t exist. so just stop with that right now. tara is judgmental to survive/save her idiot friends from getting killed all the damn time. when white people on tv shows are judgmental with their friends it’s seen as “looking out” for them and “tough love,” not as something negative.

Jeff Buckley - Jewel Box

I know you are a woman by the way you burn below
I’ll tell you secrets so good, you’ll never tell a soul
Come closer, that bonfire holds his life like stones
My years, my life unknown.
Diamonds from the pavement
Where the broken glass had been
Just like these troubles that I’m leaving to the wind
Like sapphires in boxcars speeding towards the end
Like thieves, my bad luck grows

Jewel box of sadness, bring to catch your tear
Crystallize illusion shine, forgot I’m here
Jewel box of sadness, bring to catch your tear
Oh, you left some stars in my belly

Star crossed child’s love on the bands of wedding golds
Silver studs of promise hide in the red crushed velvet folds
Inaction, intention, like emeralds I stole
My speech of custom gold
I think I ought to know
Jewel box of sadness, bring to catch your tear
Crystallize illusion shine, forgot I’m here
Jewel box of sadness, bring to catch your tear
Oh, you left some stars in my belly

i find it upsetting that the use of the pronoun “I” is always capitalized, while others such as “you, he, she” and “it” are lowercase in most situations. No wonder the needs of an individual trump those of society in English-speaking countries.

Honestly, I don’t understand this at all and I will never understand this. The amount of hurt I feel just by looking at this photo just phantoms me, because what is this girl really thinking when she put on these shorts? That’s my deity, the One I take refugee when I’m experiencing sorrow in my life. He is my all, my everything and you have put him on your body? Not only that, you’re probably unclean, and very dirty and probably were even before you put the shorts onto your body. You do not wear Him, you do not eat meat when you’re wearing Him. You do not touch Him when you’re dirty. The person who’s even wearing the shorts is not Hindu, and I know this for a fact. No Hindu would ever wear this, ever. We don’t even wear Him when we worship at His alter. If Hindu’s, the followers, the believers of the faith, reject what you’re doing, why is an unbeliever doing this? Because it’s ‘trendy’? Because it’s ‘different’? That is my God. That is my religion. That is my faith. You’re not ‘cool’ or fucking ‘unique’ , you’re a fucking ignorant asshole.

^^^ Not Hindu but I had to reblog for this.

So why is this not okay, but all kinds of Christian symbols and forms of divinity can be made into crude jokes. Methinks if we are going to play this game we need to respect all religions.

because Christianity and colonization pretty much go hand in hand. also these shorts are not attempting to make a crude joke or be used for some sort of commentary about Hinduism, they are just taking a religious/cultural symbol and appropriating it for white people to consume. that is seriously different from people who have been hurt/oppressed by Christianity either directly or indirectly making a mockery of its symbols.these shorts cannot be compared to symbols of Christianity at all.

Two issues with this excuse. Number one, Hinduism isn’t exactly a free love religion. It, like all religion, has done it’s fair share of oppressing and destroying human decency (caste system anyone?) Number two, even if you excuse mocking t-shirts there are thousands of examples of people who take crosses and other Christian symbolism and use it as fashion in blasphemous ways. This isn’t an issue of white people taking a religion (because appropriating a religion to skin color is racist enough) and making it white for them to wear. It’s an issue of how it’s totally offensive to “good, progressive people” that a minority religion is being taken advantage of while Christianity can suck it. Disregarding the offense given to a group of people you don’t like/don’t think deserve to be treated equally is as stupid as what they do to others. As an atheist I find nothing wrong with these short or shorts with Jesus plastered all over them. I just think if you are going to say one is wrong you gotta play it fair.

But nobody was saying “These shorts are wrong and if it was a pair of shorts with Jesus on them instead that’d be okay.” Honestly bringing up Christianity in the first place was so incredibly derailing in this whole discussion. And yes, as an atheist you have no problem with them but that is because it wasn’t your God on a pair of shorts? Maybe as an atheist you don’t get a say on whether or not these shorts are offensive?

That’s legit. I think a mythological elephant on a pair of pants is a-okay. I’ll live the hissy fit to those who care.

the way you’re flipping this off like it’s no big deal kind of sucks. it IS appropriation and the whole point of all this is that white people can do whatever the fuck they want with other people’s images/culture and get away with it without having to say sorry or give a shit about the people they are taking the images/customs/etc from. to call this a hissy fit and walk away is disappointing and it is a part of white privilege. i don’t even know if you are white but your reaction comes from a place of white supremacy. appropriation is important to talk about and pay attention to. if you want to go around wearing shorts like this then FINE but it IS appropriation. knowing that and still deciding to do so without giving a shit or just shrugging if off is an oppressive act. sometimes it’s hard to think about racism in small acts like this but it’s really important. also—how hard is it to just respect when people say “you are not allowed to use this image, it is part of my history/culture, not yours!”?? I mean really!!!! white people think they can have everything, this is a problem.
